Lambertville House Hotel has long been a favorite place to stay. Ultra-conveniently located right on Bridge Street in Lambertville, the Inn has received numerous accolades including the prestigious AAA Four-diamond award. Their streetside-patio is a great place to grab a drink and dine on a summer night. Inside, you’ll find their classic bar, replete with comfy seating and decor that takes you bake to a time when things seemed more relaxed.

While Lambertville House is well known, the source of their food hasn’t received the attention it deserves. Their collaboration with Dish Catering and owner Michele Pulaski was true genius. Pulaski has been bringing outstanding catering to our area with her company, Dish Catering, since 2002. Everybody who has had the good fortune of dining with Dish knows that Pulaski delivers delicious food of outstanding quality.

From Dish’s website:

“Dish Catering offers more than just great food. We are always creating seasonal menus and evolving with the current food trends. Our ideas revolve around an entire concept of bringing back favorite classics, introducing you to modern delights and discovering new and exciting flavors from around the world.”

Ever since the Lambertville House teamed up with Dish, it has become a true “Hidden Gem” in the area. Most people don’t realize that Dish took over the kitchen a while back and have been missing out on some of the most enjoyable dining around.

During the week, Dish offers small plates with hand selected cheeses, organic salads and more. You can read the details on their Facebook page or view the menu here. They also offer a Sunday Brunch which looks truly delicious, though I’ve not yet had the pleasure of trying.

But the true hidden gem is their Monday night prix fixe dinner, called “Local Love.” And love it is! For just over $20, and only offered Monday nights between 5pm and 9pm, it is among the best buys in dining you’ll find. You get a four course menu, with several options for each, allowing you to get a good sampling of Pulaski’s food. Did I mention how delicious it is?

You might start with Thai Mussels or fried artichokes, move on to a baby arugula salad, crescendo to an entree of baked, spinach stuffed tilapia, and finish with some of the amazing cheese Pulaski has chosen. It’s so good that once you’ve had a chance to try it once, you’ll want to come back every week!

On a beautiful Monday night, be sure to request seating out back on their patio. It’s a secret dining location that few know about – sort of a hidden gem within a hidden gem! You’ll be dining in a pretty courtyard, reminiscent of something you might find in Europe. As an added bonus, you can bring your dog back there. It’s not something that people often take advantage of but worth knowing about since your dining options are limited if you travel with your “best friend.”

Whether you go for drinks and small plates, a Sunday brunch feast or the Monday Night Local Love, you’re in for a treat. Mark you calendar before you forget about this Hidden Gem!
